Limited to no more than six people, our 5-day and 4-day intensives create the equivalent of a year’s worth of counseling in a safe, welcoming environment. Guided by skilled therapists, these transformational experiences help you explore the story of your life, where progress can be compared to using a backhoe instead of a teaspoon. The intensive will help you better understand and heal wounded parts of your life that may be blocking you from true freedom and the life you long to live.

Who We Work With: In these single-gender intensives, we work with men or women who realize there’s something better than they are currently experiencing. If you want to dig deeper and get more out of your life and relationships, our intensives are the best way to make significant progress in a short period of time.

Why Intensives? If you haven’t been to an intensive, you haven’t experienced it, but once you have, you won’t be able to explain what happened. You will find a place where you will leave knowing you matter and you belong. This type of therapy experience is considered a “deep dive” into your story that gives you a picture of where ongoing counseling can continue to support your goals and health.

Who attends an Intensive? Men and women in crisis. Men and women acting preventatively. Men and women who are seeking restoration.

EMDR One-on-One Intensives

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders.

An EMDR Intensive is a very different approach to providing EMDR treatment.  Because of the “rewiring” and truly healing effect of EMDR, an Intensive can work in ways that are not possible with traditional therapy techniques. EMDR processing, is designed to desensitize negative feelings and change the negative belief about self that has been encoded onto the memory in order to “rewire” the brain and truly heal the individual.  More “maladaptive” and “misplaced” traumatic experiences can be processed and healed much more quickly in an Intensive session than is possible in traditional weekly therapy.

Weekend Story Workshops

Tin Man's 2-day weekend workshop is designed to help you live more deeply from your heart, redeem your story, and equip you to have a greater depth of connection with your God-given identity, God, and others.  Through the lens of the Spiritual Root System, teaching, group experience, and redemptive, true feedback, you will grow emotionally and spiritually, and gain momentum on your desire to be who you are made to be. These workshops involve two Tin Man coaches and no more than 8 participants.

Tin Man Groups

Tin Man Groups are online groups based on region or affinity for the clients. They are 1.5 hour sessions of 6-8 people who learn to walk through their unique stories together, and the feelings associated with those stories.  These groups meet weekly, and in our experience, are one of the best ways for a man or woman to connect their head to their heart.  These groups are a great way to step into the process or go further in your recovery after meeting for a season one-on-one with one of our coaches.  

Tin Man Adventures

Tin Man adventure trips combine safe, relationally connecting group work with the challenge of an outdoor adventure including mountaineering and backpacking. “Getting away from it all” removes life distractions and gives us the space to experience our hearts along with the hearts of those who are with us.

These trips are facilitated by Tin Man coaches with the help of professional outdoor guides (Peak 7 Adventures) who keep the trips safe but still exciting. Food and all necessary outdoor gear are provided and included in the cost. Transportation from Seatac Airport is also provided.

Spiritual Direction

Simply put, Spiritual Direction is for those who are hungry for more of God.

Christian Spiritual Direction is the historical Christian practice whereby one person helps another to pay attention to the presence of God in them, around them and for them. A Spiritual Director can help a leader discern God’s voice and sanctifying work in his or her life. In the same way the Emmaus road disciples had their eyes opened to see Jesus in new light (Luke 24:28-35) , Spiritual Direction provides space for the shared noticing of Jesus that leads to deepening joy and “burning” hearts.

Spiritual direction is God-oriented rather than goal-oriented--giving one's attention to God rather than to a particular problem that needs to be fixed or behavior that needs to be modified. It is responsive rather than directive, listening together to the Holy Spirit's presence and ways rather than the director telling the directee what to do. It is about listening with--together noticing senses of God's voice and direction--rather than talking to. It occurs in an atmosphere of loving trust; trusting that God is for us (not against us), in love, and that God's work over time is about transforming us into the image of Christ, through the loving shaping of His Holy Spirit, so that we might live life fully, and to the Father's glory.

Spiritual direction meetings between a director and directed usually occur once a month, for an hour each time. These occur either in person or over zoom.
