Betsy joins the Tin Man team as a Spiritual Director and Guide to women on the journey of recovery of their hearts. A proud “Army Brat,” teacher, and former missionary, Betsy attended 10 schools by 10th grade and has moved 26 times. Her life story reads like a map where she can trace a familiar rhythm of co-dependent coping mechanisms that paralleled a routine of moving from place to place. In 2009, Betsy entered recovery after recognizing her need for healing and has since participated in and/or facilitated recovery ministry work. One of her specialties is working with women in some aspect of life transition or physical relocation.

Betsy has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a Concentration in Biblical Studies from Evangel University, and is an Alumnus of the Witherspoon Institute in Washington D.C.. She trained and is certified in Spiritual Root System and is currently working toward certifications in both Spiritual Direction and Recovery Coaching.

“My own journey and ongoing training has helped me to identify my most basic of needs: to belong and matter. As a nomadic codependent, those needs in my life were not met in healthy ways.  But I have learned and experienced that change is possible. There is hope!  I’m excited to walk with others who long to find and reclaim their hearts.”

Betsy has been married to her husband, Pete, for 18 years and has two children ages 14 (Josie) and 10 (Sam). Now based in the Nashville area, she’s learning how to create roots, hang pictures, and is working on writing her first book.
